You’re Never Too Old To Dream

It is important as we grow older to still have objectives or goals in life.
There should still be something that we would like to do or achieve, but because
of time or commitments it has eluded us so far. For many years I had a desire to
write. Until recently I did not have the time and the dream that I had over
those years had not been clear enough in my mind.

As time went on the opportunity did present itself and it became clearer in
my mind just what I would like to write about. I had no idea whether I would be
any good at it, but unless I tried I would never know. The dream I had did not
realise itself. The dream was just a dream unless I did something positive
about it. Once I had the time and the opportunity and the picture became
clearer in my mind, all it needed was action.

That is the test. That dream may have been a momentary flash or perhaps had
persisted for years, but the turning of that dream into a reality required some
positive action from me. The fulfilment of that dream was not easy. After all
I had not done anything quite like it before. Frequently I doubted my ability to
write anything that would be of interest to others. The greater the dream, the
bigger the objective, the harder it will be to achieve it. If I had a dream of
writing one page then that would have been easy. But writing a book – indeed
several books – and a weekly devotional page is something else again.

Nothing can happen without a dream in the first place. The thought of just
how difficult it might be could make us think that perhaps it would be less
trouble if we just dream away. If we just sit and dream then in the end we will
wake up with nothing – not even the dream. However, if we make the effort to
turn that dream into reality, then I know from my own experience just what joy
and satisfaction that will bring.

We are never too old to dream, and we are never too old to have objectives or
goals in life. Is there something that you have dreamt of doing, something that
is still within your physical capabilities? Then why not change that dream into
reality?

Who knows, you might yet be famous but at the very least you will experience
joy and satisfaction.

Have a good week. Pastor Ron
