This regards the exchange on alt.christnet.prayer
some time ago in which both of us were involved.
—————————-
The essence of the matter is this: SEX IS SACRED!
And to those of us who believe that all sex is inherently sacred,
it immediately follows that if sex is experienced outside the
kind of relationship that God designed for it (i.e. a lifelong
commitment with a single member of the opposite sex), then that
sacred nature is being defied. No, Christians do not despise sex
– although we may appear to do so at times because of the way
we uphold it.
Don’t start ‘sacralizing’ sex. It is a biological
function like the other daily needs we have. You Christians decided
to make it sacred just so that you could control it. Your bogus
moral dictates are meant to produce guilt in the young, thus prevent
them from having sex.Sex is fun, sex is terrific, married or not,
in love or not. Get over your hang up.
Tell that to my client who was sexually abused,
reacted by becoming promiscuous, and now (in her 40s) says ‘I’m
a fragmented person. I feel I’ve left a bit of myself with everyone
I’ve had sex with. How can I get all the bits together again?’
—————————–
I found your input to be a very moving statement.
Being a keyboard player who composes Christian songs, I consider
that a song dedicated to this subject – dedicated to people such
as your client – may be a worthwhile venture. I’ve already put
a patchwork of words and music together: here’s where I’ve got
to.
VERSE
There are some suggesting there’s a course that we
should try
There are some who recognise it is unjustified
There are some who’ve known the curse of sacred things defied
Hear their voices screaming, ‘I found it was a lie!’
CHORUS?
‘How did I become divided? How can I collect
the pieces?
Why did I defy the sacred? How can I collect the pieces?
See how I became divided. How can I collect the pieces?
Now that I’ve defied the sacred, how can I collect the pieces?’
ANOTHER POSSIBLE INCLUSION SOMEWHERE
‘Unwelcome conclusion of a painful illusion
My mind is divided by the unjustified
A course once occurred to me – O painful absurdity
I am divided by the unjustified.’
Let me know if you think I should continue with this
idea. (Or if you’re interested in the other songs I’ve written!)
