Islamisation

From a Netfriend:

I said:

‘I was just using ‘Islamisation’ in the sense in which it is commonly used, which indeed is Arabisation.’

~~~
What I should have said is that an Islamist is one who is striving to create a ‘Darul Islam’ – a worldwide Islamic state. [cf Zionism in Judaism]. Imposition of syariat law is the means by which people will become true Muslims, ie those who ‘submit to God’. This then is a pressure to conform to external norms, clearly Arab ones.
Compare this with the inward transformation required to enter the Kingdom of Heaven!
There are moderate Muslims who appreciate that God-centredness cannot be imposed on people, and who therefore resist the adoption of syariat law. In fact, they see the need for ‘contextualisation’.
This is the discussion and struggle going on amongst Muslims in Indonesia today.
In Iran, many, many Irani Muslims have been disillusioned with syariat in the last twenty years, seeing less rather than more Godliness in their religious leaders since the Revolution.
Jesus said, ‘apart from me you can do nothing’. John 15:5b
