A well meaning but inexperienced tourist was visiting a Polynesian island when he came across a native man proudly displaying twenty shark teeth on a string around his neck.
“I guess you must be prize shark teeth the way most civilizations value pearls,” said the tourist.
“More so,” said the Polynesian. “Almost anyone can open an oyster.”
And then, this one:
A famous physician dies and goes to the Pearly Gates.
Noticing that there’s a long line to get in, he walks to the front and explains who he is. But, his plea falls on deaf ears. “I’ve saved thousands of lives,” he says. “Are you telling me that I have to go to the end of the line?”
“Sorry,” says the angel, “but we make no exceptions here.” Begrudgingly, the doctor goes to the end of the line. Then what does he see?
A young man with a white coat and stethoscope walking to the front of the line. The angel smiles, bows deeply, and lets him through without comment.
Incensed, the physician marches up to the angel. “I thought you said there were no exceptions; how about that guy?”
“Oh,” said the angel, “That was God. He likes to go down to earth now and then and play doctor.”
