[1] COME … SEE … GO … TELL!

“Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen … (Matthew 28:6-7).

“Today in the Word” quotes Edwin S. Johnson who said, “One of the greatest missionary texts in all the Bible is found in the words of the angel on that first resurrection morn. Four little monosyllables summarize the program and plan of the Lord to reach people with the gospel … Come, see, go, and tell!”

Once we COME to Christ and accept him as our personal Lord and Savior, and SEE what God has done for us, God wants us to GO and TELL others about this.

Many of us, including myself, are scared to do this in a confrontive way. Years ago I told God about how scared I was to witness for him, but I wanted him to use me so I prayed, “God I’m available to tell others about the gospel but you’ll need to do it through me because I’m too scared.”

And how did God answer this prayer? Probably in 40 million ways!

“Exaggerating?” you say.

Not really. I never wanted to be a writer but through unusual circumstances God put (more liked thrust) me into a literature and writing ministry. And over 40 million of our gospel brochures have been printed and distributed in many countries … not to mention what God is now doing through email and the Internet.

There are many ways to “go and tell” … through our life … through our talents … as well as through our words. One key is to tell God you’re available and ask him to do his work through you.

Suggested prayer: “Dear God, I’m available. Please use me and the talents you have given me to ‘go and tell’ others what you have done for me … for forgiving my sins, for giving me a new life, a new hope, and the gift of eternal life. Gratefully in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
