A story is told about Bob Zuppke, the former football coach at the University of Illinois. In this particular game, the University of Illinois was woefully behind at half- time. Bob Zuppke got up in front of his team and gave a stirring dramatic half-time speech, trying to enliven this dispirited and lackluster team. As he neared the conclusion of his speech, his voice became louder, his pleas more dramatic, and finally he pointed to the door at the other end of the room saying, “And now let’s go through that door and on to victory!”
The team rose as one man, tears welling in their eyes, their throats choked with emotion, and they ran through that door — right into the university swimming pool.
