Folks,
Nothing really funny happened to me yesterday, so as I sat down to write today’s intro, I thought I’d use something from the yesterday morning’s paper as fodder.
Problem: I read that newspaper pretty thoroughly, but some 15 hours later, I can’t remember a single damn thing about what was in it.
Yep, it’s official: I’ve got CRS disease. I can’t remember shit!
They say your memory is the _second_ thing to go. I can’t remember what the _first_ thing to go is. Frankly, this worries me… but I can’t remember why.
Worrying about this is silly, really. Since my memory has now started going, whatever starting going first is obviously even farther gone, but since I can’t remember what that was, I probably don’t miss it.
I asked the wifely person about that “second thing to go” quote. She just smiled, looked me right in the eye, and replied, “Who are you?”
On that Muppet news flash, Ziggy’s something or other of the day was sent in by MontyJay:
Who reads what?
1. The Wall Street Journal is read by the people who run the country.
2. The New York Times is read by people who think they run the country.
3. The Washington Post is read by people who think they ought to run the country.
4. USA Today is read by people who think they ought to run the country but don’t understand the Washington Post.
5. The Los Angeles Times is read by people who wouldn’t mind running the country, if they could spare the time.
6. The Boston Globe is read by people whose parents used to run the country.
7. The New York Daily News is read by people who aren’t too sure who’s running the country.
8. The New York Post is read by people who don’t care who’s running the country, as long as they do something scandalous.
9. The San Francisco Chronicle is read by people who aren’t sure there is a country, or that anyone is running it.
To which I can only add that the Minneapolis Star-Tribune is read by people who feel _they_ should be running the country, but refuse to leave Minnesota for Washington because of “quality of life” issues.
Ziggy’s other thingie of the day:
I’m absolutely flushed with pride to tell you that October is National Toilet Tank Repair Month. I’d have announced that earlier… but I forgot.
