Ole went to a bank to cash a check. The Norwegian teller there said, “Yes, of course we will cash your check. All you have to do is sign your name on the back of the check.”

Ole replied, “I will not sign for you or anyone. Just give me my money.”

The teller replied, “I can’t give you your money unless you sign your name.”

Ole left in anger, crossed the street and went into another bank where there was a Swedish teller. The teller asked Ole to sign his name on the back of the check. Ole gave him the same answer, “I will never sign for you or anyone else. Just give me my money.”

Then the Swedish teller grabbed Ole’s head in his hands and pounded Ole’s head on the counter. When Ole recovered, he quickly signed his name, got his money and went across the street to the bank there. He showed the Norwegian teller the money. This teller said, “Why did you sign for them over there and you wouldn’t sign for me?”

Ole replied, “Over there they explain things to you.”
