On Time

BBC news reports today that an Arriva Northern train from York to Scarborough arrived on time.

Astonished management officials said that they could not understand how this had happened. A spokesman for the company gave the following statement:

“We are completely baffled by this. We have a well planned programme of strikes, leaf mulch on the line, signal failures, engine problems and engineering work intended to prevent this sort of thing from happening. There is absolutely no chance of this becoming a regular event, other than in exceptional circumstances such as reasonable weather or the name of the day having a “y” in it.

I can only reassure customers that this was a one time in a million event, and I would like to personally apologise to any customers who were inconvenienced as a result of their train arriving 45 minutes before the expected time for any problems caused. Staff at the station were briefed, and were ready to answer any comments at the time, and complimentary tea and coffee were given out to waiting customers.”

Merry Christmas all, and best wishes to all commuters especially!
