True Story

TRUE STORY…………………heard on a David Frost interview, who by the way is a very committed Christian. He was at church one morning as an eighteen year old and the minister was preaching on the parable of the ten wise and ten foolish virgins and the oil for their lamps. (If you don’t know the story look it up.)

The minister finished up with…..”Well who do we want to be like?? Do we want to be on time just like the ten wise virgins or do we want to sleep with the ten foolish virgins??!!!” As you could gather he was the only one who laughed!!

A monk sold his donkey to another monk from a far away monastery. He gave him all the instructions on what to feed him, how to look after him, etc. and finally told him that he was a very obedient donkey. He only worked with two commands. When he needed to stop the monk was to say “Amen”. When he wanted him to go again he said “Praise the Lord”.

The trip was a long one up and around winding tracks climbing ever higher to the monastery. Suddenly the monk noticed a steep cliff ahead but had forgotten the commands. As the edge came closer and closer he finally remembered. “Amen!” he yelled and the donkey came to an abrupt halt. Looking down the steep cliff hundreds of feet below he could make out jagged rocks by the hundreds. Leaning over the donkey’s neck he breathed with relief, “Praise the Lord!!”
