Example #2 of a Church Covenant plus a Team Covenant

Here’s our church covenant:

Having accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour, and having been baptised, and being in agreement with the statements, strategy and structure of Flinders Baptist Community Church, I now feel led by the Holy Spirit to join the church family.

In doing this I commit myself to God and to the other members to do the following:

1. I will protect the unity of my church by – acting in love toward other members – refusing to gossip – following the leaders

2. I will share the responsibility of my church by – praying for its growth – inviting seekers to attend – warmly welcoming those who attend

3. I will serve the ministry of my church by – discovering my gifts and talents – being equipped to serve by my pastors – developing a servant’s heart

4. I will support the testimony of my church by – attending faithfully – living a good life – giving regularly

TEAM COVENANT

As a leader of Flinders Baptist Community Church I dedicate myself to the vision, health and development of my church, I affirm my co-leaders in their various roles and responsibilities, and I commit myself to the following team covenant:

(a) Affirmation

I will love and affirm you unconditionally, no matter what you have said or done.

(b) Availability

I place my time, energy, wisdom and resources at the disposal of the team.

(c) Regularity

I promise to give a regular part of my time to this group when it decides to meet, and to give that time priority on my schedule.

(d) Prayer

I promise to pray for each team member, to uphold them, and to be sensitive to their needs.

(e) Openness

I will open myself to you, expressing my feelings, history, hopes and hurts.

(f) Honesty

I will be honest in my reflection of what I sense and feel coming from you.

(g) Confidentiality

I will communicate nothing discussed in this group that is confidential or that could be injurious or embarrassing to other team members.

(h) Accountability

I am accountable to the team and will strive to grow and exercise my God-given gifts in ways that lead to excellence and effectiveness in our work.
