A bi-weekly e-mail from George Barna
We were privileged to conduct research regarding worship for the Billy Ray Hearn Symposium on Christian Music recently. In this Update, I want to share some of the key findings about worship:
* Despite widespread media attention to the “worship wars,” just 7% of Protestant churches have “severe” or “somewhat serious” music issues plaguing the church
* People have plenty of choices of worship options: 73% of all Protestant churches have multiple services, with at least one out of every four churches offering services featuring traditional, blended, or contemporary worship music
* There are some serious worship challenges, though, and they relate to people connecting to God, the perceived purpose of worship, prioritizing worship as a ministry, and identifying the factors that facilitate a connection with God
These are just a few of the findings in my new report. Read it for yourself on our website (http://www.barna.org) – it’s there now.
