Ministry And Gifts

From a netfriend:

The challenge might be as simple as trying to understand , as indicated in Matthew 5:43-48, why Father God is willing to bestow his blessings on both the righteous and the unrighteous. We wouldn’t operate such an economy but then we aren’t God either.

For example, how DOES one explain a William Branham, who began with such spectacular gifting from God that many were saved and healed under his ministry. It is even reported that the dead were raised. But later, because of his ignorance of the Bible he sank into such deception that he used those gifts to exalt himself as the new Elijah and draw many into his cult. Yet, 6 days before his own death he was in a car accident in which his wife was killed, and although fatally injured himself, is reported to have been able to revive her by laying on his hand.

Or, for someone a bit more familiar have a good look at the story of Samson.

Or, how does one explain the discovery of many who enter into a ministry only to discover with hindsight that God had called and gifted them before they were born. This was my experience. I had operated in certain gifts from birth, but until God redeemed them and taught me to use them safely they brought me much grief because they were based more on natural psychic ability than on the Spirit. I was using my own power to listen to God and he was using it fruitfully, but the day came when he said enough and taught me how to use his gifts in his way. Unless you are a Calvinist, which I am not, one has to conclude that God does gift those who are by no means living a lifestyle that is pleasing to him.
