The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom has a new Internet site (see link #3 below) for people in the U.S. government’s efforts to end religious persecution abroad and promote international religious freedom. It features an archive of commission press releases; frequently asked questions; the State Department’s first country-by-country Report on International Religious Freedom; names and biographies of the commissioners; the text of the 1998 International Religious Freedom Act and its 1999 amendments; texts of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; the 1998 State Department Human Rights report; and links to other sites of interest. …The commission was created by the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998 to give independent recommendations to the executive branch and the Congress.
