Whilst I am not familiar with Origen or his teachings, Universalism is a doctrine that
I believe to be unsound due to a large portion of scripture, both in Old Testament and New
Testament that teaches and describes that those who choose to reject God will end up
somewhat toasted (for eternity) and because it indirectly teaches that there is no need to
be changed into the image of Christ – no need to progressively follow Christ through life.

It is also permission in a way for unbelievers to continue in their unbelief, or in
their worship of false gods, which God says directly is abominable to him. Whilst God is
all loving, He does give us a choice whether to love Him in return or not. It is then a
relationship bwetween the two, and how many relationships that you know last when the love
is in only one direction?

Also, taken to an extreme, universalism suggestes that event the fallen angels,
including their boss will also be saved. If that, then the whole concept of sin or even
right & wrong becomes irrelevant. This would lead to the necessity of Christ as being
irrelevant! For if sin was not relevant, there would not be any need for God to reconcile
us to Him through His Son.
