The Trinity

—This excerpt is taken from http://www.exchangedlife.com/Sermons/topical/trinity/3atOnce.shtml

Several times in the New Testament we see all three persons mentioned together. Two of the most popular Trinity supporting passages are:

Matthew 5 16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

Matthew 28 19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

Here is how the historic Christian leaders viewed this truth:

110 AD. Ignatius of Antioch wrote,

“Wherefore also the Lord, when He sent forth the apostles to make disciples of all nations, commanded them to “baptize in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost,” not unto one [person] having three names, nor into three [persons] who became incarnate, but into three possessed of equal honour.” (Letter to the Philadelphians, 2)
