I sometimes wonder if the standard method of enquiry for moderns is to apply the underlying principle of our era, “if it feels good, do it,” and assert whatever pops into their heads. I think a look at the religion shelf in a general bookseller would tend to support this.

Whether that is the case here, of course, I do not know.
