I need a coffee break, Lord,
At least I think I do. Perhaps I just need a break,
To walk around a bit and do something different,
To “smell the roses”!
I am in the middle of a report and my mind seems a bit stale.
Is it really coffee I need?
Am I that far gone that I’m dependent on the caffeine stimulus?
Half life of 3 – 4 hours [1] equates to four shots a day!
There’s lots of time when I need a short break with you, Lord.
Yes, I need to attend formal times of praise and worship,
But just now, to spend a moment or two in your presence
Is like top brand spiritual caffeine.
In your word, you spoke of the water of life
From which we will never thirst again. [2]
Thank you for this precious gift, Lord.
I don’t mind if you want to add a little caffeine!
[1] The half-life of a drug is defined as the time taken for the blood level to decline by half and is the principal determinant of the required frequency of dosing.
