Lord, I seem to be lying awake worrying,
About that difficult letter I need to write tomorrow.
The politics, arguments, sensitivities, and prose.
But I shouldn’t be thinking about this now.
How do you want me to handle this?
“My son, let me work on this one for a while.
In your mind, put this one in an envelope.
Seal it, and leave it at the back of the shelf until morning.
I will bring you a solution – one that you can’t imagine now”
OK Lord, I trust you. Now what? [1]
“Concentrate on my presence, my son.
Step aside from time with me for a moment
And let your awareness of me grow.
Above and beneath, within and without,
Behind you, but particularly ahead of you.” [2]
Lord, I worship you.
Humbled that you have wrapped my humanity with your divinity,
And I love you.
And even now, I can’t remember what the letter was about.
1.. Psalm 138 v 3. 2.. Philippians 3, v 13,14. Footnote next morning,
Arriving correspondence made my letter unnecessary.
