A Testimony

Hi Rowland,

My name is Stuart French. I met you at Waverley Christian Fellowship the other
day after your fantastic marriage seminar and you asked me to e-mail you my
testimony.

It’s pretty long, but the part you are interested in is fairly simple, so here
goes!

About 4 years ago I got my first internet account through Melbourne PC Users
Group. It was a lot of fun and I loved spending time on the net and in the
newsgroups.

After about 6-8 months, after a combination of coincidences and well timed
questions from loving friends I started to want to know more about God.

While scrolling through the newsgroups one day I found aus.religion.christian and
started reading the posts. They were all a bit abusive, not what I expected, but
the topics were current and some of them showed a little love and respect. These
usually were in response to some obviously angry and hurting individuals (I used
to be one, so I recognised their lashing out). A lot of these post were by
yourself and another fellow called Nigel. I’m happy to say I’ve now met both you
and your daughter Lindy but I still have no idea who Nigel is?

Eventually I got brave enough to ask a question. Can’t remember what it was, but
I have a feeling it was a fairly simple query about faith.

Yourself and a few others answered me, including a gentleman who recognised my
e-mail address as belonging to the PC Users group of which he was also a member.
He was from Melbourne, but working in Perth at a Christian radio station. We
began a, e-mail conversation over the following week and the next Monday night at
a friends house I gave my heart to the Lord.

The next morning I e-mailed him and shared the good news and about how
weird/great/peaceful/protected and forgiven I felt. He was so excited, and
shared with me that he had had all the staff at the radio station praying for me
all week. Praise God.

Unfortunately 2 months or so later the HDD on my notebook crashed and I lost all
those e-mails. Over time I have also forgotten his name and would love to
someday meet him. Maybe I’ll catch him in the news-groups one day.

Not long after that, I joined Waverley Christian Fellowship. My wife Jenny gave
her heart to the Lord 3 months later and we are now cells leaders in the church
with about 30 people in our little group and about to multiply for the second
time in 5 months. God is Good!

I want to thank you for your gentle spirit, both online and in person. If it
hadn’t been for you and a few others, I mightn’t have stayed long enough to
illicit that prayer, or to have gain enough confidence to attend my friends men’s
night the next week.

God bless you and you ministry and never forget, you never know how many people
are coming closer to the Lord with every word you type!

Yours Sincerley,

Stuart French Stuart iname.com
