I have received a new version of the Nigerian Scam, one that is aimed at Christians. The scam artist claims to be a convert to Christianity from Islam who wants to use his money to evangelize. If you’ve never heard of the Nigerian Scam, you’re lucky. A lot of people, including me, get a lot of Nigerian Scam spam in the mail. To learn more about this scam, which basically involves a claim that if the victim helps someone get money out of Nigeria or some other African country he will be given a share for his trouble, put “nigerian scam” into your favorite search engine. http://home.rica.net/alphae/419coal/ is one comprehensive site which includes information on what to do with e-mail (or faxes or postal mail) containing this offer to help the authorities take action against the criminals. I’ve already been forwarding e-mail offering it to the address the Secret Service has set up to receive it.
