A ‘Net friend wrote in message : <> I have written to Rowland requesting that he deletes all incidences of my name and contact details from his website. Bonni responded: Then I’m sure it will be done. He’s very prompt about that sort of thing from what I’ve seen and experienced.
And Rowland responded :
A note to all a.r.c’ers on the subject of adding your wisdom to our website.
In our street/court, we have a neighbour – just one – who refuses to allow anyone else to put their excess garbage into his bin. The rest of us are quite happy for each other to do it…
For those of you who don’t want your garbage… oops, I mean wisdom, to be added to our website, I’m happy to comply. I’ve now got into the habit (since privacy conscientization/awareness) of leaving out email addresses. Fair enough. When all this started I don’t think there were bots that raided websites and lists for email addresses. We now know better 🙁
I have twelve published books. To satisfy copyright requirements I’ve acceded to the publishers’ requests to put a copyright notice in them. But I now hold the copyright to these books, and am delighted for anyone to pinch anything they want, with or without acknowledgement, provided that if they put my name on it it’s ‘copied right’! Same with stuff I’ve written on our website. I believe that to copyright any of my writings is against God’s will for me, but I freely acknowledge a different stance by others, and will respect their wishes in this regard.
An injunction which has meant a lot to me is the biblical exhortation ‘Freely you have received, freely give!’
