Actually, it is considered good netiquette to snip groups.

This is not about "relevance", and it does not remove the posts

of other people; it is purely about deciding where you want to

post.


It is good practice for a Usenet user to limit where they

send their messages.


I’m posting this to one group only; the only one to which

I am subscribed.


Crossposting on Usenet is possible, but should not be overused.

The recommended best practice is to include a "follow-up" line

when messages are cross posted, precisely so that subsequent

discussion is in one group only.
